Phil Roberts (drums)
A teenager in Beatles' hometown Liverpool in the 60s, Phil couldn't help but pick up the sticks. At school, his jazz-loving music teacher got him playing in the school's bebop trio. He continued to learn his trade by playing at weekends in working men's clubs around Merseyside. At college in the East Midlands, Phil played in all manner of bands - from trad jazz to electric blues, eventually joining a busy function band to play out the ‘70s.
Following a 20-year spell of 'real life' with a family, job and mortgage, he dug out his old kit from the attic and started again, not having lost any enthusiasm on the way. After a spell in a soul band, he joined the seven-piece tribute band Dire Traits - no guessing required - which was the foremost UK Dire Straits tribute of the 'noughties', until it disbanded after a dozen years on the road. Phil’s not been treading water though and, in 2016, joined Richard and the rest of the band to form Slow Burn.
